EgyptAir has confirmed its intention to operate direct flights to Misrata starting January 25.

The company's chairman, Yahya Zakaria, said that the new route includes one flight per week every Thursday, making Misrata "EgyptAir's third point in Libya after flights to Benina International Airport in Benghazi and Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli," according to the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram.

Zakaria explained that the company's flight will take off from Cairo International Airport under the number "MS827" at 12:15 pm, and will arrive in Misrata at 15:15 Libyan time.

He added that the goal was to implement "an ambitious plan pursued by the company, to expand its network in the African continent, and reach many vital points in it."
