The Speaker of Libya's House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, issued a decision to allocate 500 million dinars for the reconstruction of cities in the western region, spokesman Abdullah Bliheg announced on Thursday.

Bliheg explained in a press statement that the decision comes "in accordance with what was approved by the House of Representatives in its last session at the request of members from the western region, and what was demanded by a number of mayors from western municipalities during their meeting with the speaker earlier this week".

He added that this decision "comes as an affirmation of the House of Representatives' keenness to include reconstruction and development in all cities and regions throughout the country."

On Tuesday, the House of Representatives unanimously approved the request submitted by a number of deputies to allocate 500 million dinars for the reconstruction of cities in the western region, and to refer the amount to the Reconstruction and Stability Committee to take over the implementation and supervision of reconstruction in the western region.
