Libyan Attorney General Siddiq Al-Sur announced on Wednesday the referral of 137 Red Notice requests to the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), related to crimes of corruption, murder, theft and drug trafficking.
Al-Sur said in a press conference on Wednesday that the security situation in the country allowed the escape of those accused of money laundering, drug trafficking and other crimes outside the country.
He added that his office referred 82 Red Notices related to financial corruption crimes, nine related to drug trafficking crimes, and 46 related to murder, theft and kidnapping, all of which were circulated at all airports around the world.
He explained that during 2023, his office monitored "more than 3,700 corruption crimes, more than 12,600 crimes related to irregular migration, and more than 4,600 fraud crimes," and considered "more than 75,000 criminal cases, including more than 12,000 criminal cases classified as organized crime."
