The Speaker of Libya's House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, was briefed on the work of the Reconstruction and Stability Committee and the Derna Reconstruction Fund, during a meeting with parliament-appointed Prime Minister Osama Hammad.

The meeting was attended by the head of the Reconstruction and Stability Committee, Hatem Al-Araibi, and the Executive Director of the Derna Reconstruction Fund for Belgasim Khlaifa Haftar.

A statement by the House of Representatives explained that the meeting, which was held in the city of Al-Qubba, reviewed all the developments of the existing work throughout the country, under the supervision of the Reconstruction and Stability Committee and the Derna Reconstruction Fund, represented in paving main and secondary roads, constructing bridges, lighting works, green spaces, parks, maintenance, the development of public housing buildings, and governmental and non-governmental headquarters.

On Monday, the Derna Reconstruction Fund signed contracts with the Egyptian Arab Contractors Company, including for the construction of new bridges at the western entrance to the city of Derna. Bridges in the area were swept away by Storm Daniel flooding in September.

Last Wednesday, Hammad's government announced the formation of the Derna Reconstruction Fund, and assigned Balkassim Khalifa Haftar as its executive director.
