Libya's ambassador to the Netherlands, Ziad Saleh Dghaim, said that Libya and a group of countries led by Palestine have filed suit before the International Court of Justice against Israel.

In a statement to Alwasat, Dghaim added that Libya and other countries have requested that an oral argument in the lawsuit be scheduled for next February.

The lawsuit aims to prosecute the Israeli occupation in the mass murders committed in the Gaza Strip, where the death toll after 75 days reached about 20,000, half of them children and women, in addition to the starving of the residents of the Gaza Strip and depriving them of water, medicine and electricity.

Case before the International Criminal Court

On November 17, the International Criminal Court in The Hague, the Netherlands, announced that it had received requests from five countries to investigate war crimes committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

ICC prosecutor Karim Khan said he had received a request from South Africa, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Comoros and Djibouti to investigate the situation in the Palestinian territories.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said his country "believes that Israel is committing war crimes and genocide in Gaza, where thousands of Palestinians have been killed and hospitals and public infrastructure destroyed."
