The United Kingdom's new ambassador to Libya, Martin Longden, praised on Wednesday the role of the Central Bank of Libya in "supporting the financial stability of the state, fighting corruption and rebuilding flood-affected areas."

This came during the ambassador's meeting with the governor of the Central Bank, Siddiq Al-Kabir, where they "exchanged views on many issues of common interest," according to a statement issued by the bank.

Since Longden took office last October from former ambassador Caroline Hurndall, the new British ambassador has met with the head of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dabaiba, as well as Libyan Arab Armed Forces commander Khalifa Haftar.
