The International Criminal Court (ICC) has extended a joint task force currently investigating crimes committed against migrants in Libya by one year.

The announcement was made by the ICC during its meeting in Madrid, where the extension was signed by Deputy Prosecutor Nazhat Shameem Khan.

The team consists of prosecutors from the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, UK and the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol).

On 8 November, ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan reported significant progress in his office's investigative activities on the situation in Libya over the past six months.
