The Russian Ambassador to Libya Aydar Agnin affirmed his country's support for the efforts of the UN envoy Abdoulaye Bathily in holding elections in accordance with "fair laws", and announced the return of services at a fully staffed embassy in Tripoli.
This came during a meeting with Government of National Unity Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dabaiba in Tripoli, to follow up on "a number of political and economic files between the two countries," according to Dabaiba's media office.
Aganin also stressed "the Russian desire for economic and academic cooperation between the public and private sectors of the two countries," according to the statement.
In turn, Dabaiba affirmed Libya's firm position on the Israeli aggression on Gaza, expressing his "satisfaction with the Russian position towards the aggression," and called for unifying the international position towards the Palestinian cause.
