The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) announced the return of the fifth unit at the Zueitina power station to service with a capacity of 250 megawatts after the completion of maintenance work.

According to a statement issued by the company, the maintenance work included replacing the exhaust gas chimney on the unit and mechanical repairs to increase production capacity.

GECOL also indicated on Monday the continuation of a major overhaul work at the second and third units of the Zahra Gas Power Station (west of Tripoli).

The company said in a statement that this overhaul is "part of the long-term maintenance and development contract with the German company Siemens with the participation of technicians and engineers from the station."
