The commander of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Marshal Khalifa Haftar, received a delegation of sheikhs, notables and elders from Tebu tribes at General Command headquarters on Monday.

A statement from the General Command's Information Office quoted Haftar as affirming "the spirit and courage of our people from the Tebu tribes, who constitute an important part of the Libyan social fabric, and their sacrifices and positions in support of fighting terrorism and extremism."

According to the statement, the delegation renewed its "commitment to the unity and stability of Libya, and its full support for the national project by the General Command," praising "the real efforts made and carried out by the Libyan Armed Forces in maintaining security and stability, and providing various services in the regions of beloved southern Libya."

Arrest in Ubari

On Sunday, the 128th Reinforced Brigade announced the arrest of a person it said was "wanted for justice" after two vigils in the city of Ubari on Friday demanding the disclosure of the fate of two residents held by the General Command affiliated brigade.

The brigade indicated that its units "arrested the wanted man while passing through a southern checkpoint, referring him to the Law Enforcement Department".

The brigade noted Haftar's instructions to "arrest those wanted by the judicial authorities and who pose a danger to society," in the announcement.

On Friday, a statement issued by "Notables, Elders and Youth of the Tebu in Ubari" referred to the arrests as "kidnapping and enforced disappearance."
