The Ministry of Interior for Libya's Government of National Unity announced on Sunday the inguration of the Patrols and Security Posts deparments to implement of the second phase of its plan to secure the country's western borders.

The ministry added in a statement that desert patrols are now ongoing in the Hamada al-Hamra area where there are "smuggling roads and routes."

Patrol positions were also added on the road linking Qurayyat, Tabqa and Daraj.

On September 6, Interior Minister Imad Trabelsi announced the installation of day and night surveillance cameras and the deployment of troops along the border with Tunisia, as part of the ministry's plan to deal with the issue of irregular migration.
