Libyan Presidential Council leader Mohamed Menfi received on Sunday a delegation of notables and elders from Zintan, to discuss national reconciliation, elections and the situation in the western region, according to his media office.

The office added that the meeting was held at the headquarters of the Presidential Council in Tripoli, and dealt with "developments in the political situation in Libya, the role of notables and elders of the Zintan tribe in the national reconciliation project, in addition to unifying efforts to ensure the stability of the western region."

It said that the delegation praised "the active role played by the head of the Presidential Council in reuniting and bringing together Libyan parties and working to end the transitional stages, in response to the desire of the Libyan people and move forward towards elections".

Menfi's meeting comes as part of a series of meetings held by the Presidential Council with various political and social parties from across the country to mobilize support for the political process and the national reconciliation project.
