The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) announced on Tuesday, the continuation of maintenance and renovation work on the fifth gas unit at the North Benghazi power station.

The works included mechanical maintenance and the replacement of the entire air system, as part of efforts to renovate the station's generating units, in support of the electrical network and extend its life.

Equipment and spare parts from the US company GE arrived at the North Benghazi station through Mitiga International Airport last Saturday, in order to complete the serious overhaul work, according to a statement issued by GECOL.
