The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, said he agreed with Marshal Khalifa Haftar to "continue our joint efforts towards peace and stability in Libya."

This came during a meeting held Monday in Benghazi to dicuss "the political and security situation in the country and concrete steps moving forward to enable the electoral process" according Bathily in a post on X.

Earlier on Monday, the General Command's Information Office said that the meeting discussed “the latest political developments in Libya".

On Sunday, Bathily met with House of Representatives Speaker Aguila Saleh and agreed on taking "concrete steps" towards holding elections.
