UNICEF says provided relief aid to more than 700 people stranded at Libyan-Tunisian border

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) said it has provided relief items to more than 700 people as part of a response to the humanitarian crisis on the Libyan-Tunisian border.

In a post on its Facebook page, the organization explained that it distributed personal hygiene kits in partnership with the Libyan Red Crescent and local authorities, pointing out that it is present with the World Food Programme and the International Organization for Migration in Libya on the ground, to respond to the humanitarian crisis at the border.

She added that this assistance comes as part of their efforts to provide multisectoral humanitarian assistance, including: household items, food rations, hygiene kits, medical consultations, in addition to sterilization and hygiene services in the Al-Assah area for the most needy people at the border.

She stressed that the needs in the region were significant and that she would continue to provide emergency assistance in close coordination with local authorities, partners and donors.
