IOM: More than 43,000 people displaced by Storm Daniel floods in Libya

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said that there are about 43,421 people still displaced in Libya by Storm Daniel flooding that hit the eastern region on September 10.

The organization monitored the movement of displaced families from Derna, say that 6% of the total displaced have moved to western municipalities.

The majority of the displaced (94%) remained in the municipalities of eastern Libya, the largest percentage of them in Derna (38%), Benghazi (10%), Al-Bayda (10%), Shhahat (9%), and Tobruk (8%).

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) had previously estimated the number of people displaced by Daniel at 42,045, according to a statement issued on October 5.
