Libyan Parliament Spokesman Abdullah Bliheg announced on Thursday evening that the recently approved election laws were handed over to the UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, at his request.

Bliheg added in a post on his Facebook page that the documents were handed over to the UN mission on Thursday evening.

Earlier in the day, Bathily informed the speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, in a letter that he had not yet seen the issued laws, expressing his aspiration to receive an official revised version.

The letter also criticized Saleh's failure to abide by their agreement to inform him and the UN mission before their issuance, reiterating the need for these laws to be enforceable.
