Marshal Khalifa Haftar affirmed the General Command's determination to quickly rebuild the city of Derna, calling on "citizens to maintain the cohesion of the social fabric and eliminate the strife that some tried to promote inside the city during the crisis," according to the General Command's Information Office.

On Tuesday evening, Haftar visited Derna for the second time since devastating floods swept through the city, killing thousands of residents and destroying a large part of it, especially the downtown areas.

During the visit, Haftar met with sheikhs and notables of the cities of the Green Mountain and the eastern coast to offer condolences "and stressed during this meeting the determination of the armed forces to rebuild the city quickly".

At the same time, he praised the continuous efforts of the officers and soldiers of the General Command accompanied by civil institutions and local and international rescue teams that came from all Libyan cities and from brotherly and friendly countries in response to the call of duty inside the affected cities.

On September 24, Haftar ordered the allocation of the 166th Infantry Brigade camp to the people of the city of Derna affected by the disaster.

On September 26, Haftar conducted a helicopter inspection tour of the cities affected by flooding, and met with local and international search and rescue teams to discuss developments in search operations.
