The Ministry of Transport for Libya's Government of National Unity announced on Thursday the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation between the Civil Aviation Authority and the General Authority of Civil Aviation in Qatar.

The memorandum was initialed by the head of the Aviation Authority, Mohammed Shlebek, and from the Qatari side, the acting head of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Mohammed Faleh Al-Hajri, according to the ministry's statement on its Facebook page.

Undersecretary for Air Transport Affairs Khaled Souissi said that the memorandum aims to enhance and develop joint cooperation in the field of civil aviation in general and aims to develop a framework between the two parties in developing and operating channels of joint cooperation between them.

The memorandum covers areas of cooperation in "air safety, air traffic management, civil aviation security and facilities, meteorological services, legal affairs, exchange of trained and qualified competencies, and organizing workshops and training courses."
