The Roads and Bridges Authority announced on Monday that 70% of the infrastructure in flood affected areas have been damaged, in addition to the loss of 80% of water ferries in the eastern region.

The authority stressed that it is currently working on opening alternative routes to all affected areas.

The head of the authority's emergency chamber, Hussein Sweidan, confirmed the collapse of 11 bridges due to the floods, including two bridges linking Derna to the cities of Susa and Al-Qubbah and three bridges on the road between Shahhat and Susa, according to a statement.

Last Wednesday, the Technical Committee for Damage Inventory formed by the authority announced that 30 kilometers of road in Derna had collapsed and estimated that an area of 90 hectares was damaged in the vicinity of the Derna valley.
