The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, said that he agreed with the President of the High Council of State, Muhammad Takala, on the need to complete the legal framework for elections, taking into account the observations provided by the main parties to make electoral laws enforceable.

This came during a meeting held on Sunday in Tripoli, in the presence of members of the High Council of State's leadership.

The two sides stressed, according to a post by Bathily on X, the need for the main parties to engage in constructive dialogue to reach a political agreement on contentious issues related to the holding of elections.

According to a statement published by the council, the meeting discussed the election file, the outputs of the 6+6 committee, the requirements for achieving the electoral promise, ways to create an environment and conditions for free, fair, transparent and credible elections, and guarantees of acceptance of the results of these elections by all parties to the political process.
