Weather fluctuations accompanied by severe sandstorms caused the fall of electricity towers in the Ubari area, the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) announced on Friday.

The company explained in a statement that severe weather affected several areas in the southwest of the country causing the loss of power.

GECOL said it is currently working on establishing a temporary line to Ubari as the fallen tower cut the connection with the gas power generation station.

The company said that a new tower is expected to be constructed but no timeframe was given.
