The Western Sector of the Coast Guard and Port Security Service announced the addition of three speedboats which will be used in search and rescue operations.

The equipment will also contribute to combating illegal migration, smuggling and illegal acts in Libyan waters, according to a statement released on Sunday.

The boats were provided by Italian authorities and the European Union, within the framework of the memorandum of understanding signed with the two sides in Tripoli on January 28.
