The Shahhat Security Directorate announced on Friday the arrest of 39 individuals of different nationalities who entered Libya illegally.

The directorate explained that the individuals were arrested after receiving information on a large gathering at a rest home on the outskirts of the city of Shahhat.

The directorate added that accordingly, the head of the Shahhat police station issued instructions to verify the information and move to the location.

The directorate confirmed that "security patrols moved to the outskirts of the city and located the persons," adding that "they were transferred to the center, for investigation, and to verify passports and residence."

The directorate said those arrested "confessed to entering the country through the airport but that their entry stamps were unclear and that the seals were forged".
