Qatar's Ambassador to Libya, Khalid Mohammed Al-Dosari, congratulated Mohammed Takala on his presidency of the High Council of State, wishing him success in his mission.

Al-Dosari said in a message to Tekala: "It gives me pleasure and honor to extend to your Excellency the highest and best congratulations and heartfelt wishes on the occasion of your election as President of the High Council of State. Wishing you success in this lofty mission entrusted to you, to serve the interests of your country and your dear people," according to a statement released by the council on Tuesday.

He added: "I also hope that under your wise leadership, the already strong relations between the State of Qatar and the brotherly State of Libya will be strengthened."

Libya's High Council of State voted to replace its leader in a televised vote on Sunday, with members chosing Mohammed Takala in a run-off.

The 67 to 62 vote ousted Khaled Al-Mishri who had led the Tripoli-based body since 2018.
