The Coast Guard and Port Security Service received three boats for maritime rescue work, provided by Italian authorities and the European Union, within the framework of the memorandum of understanding signed in Tripoli on January 28.

The boats will enter service upon arrival at Tripoli naval base from Italy and will be led by officers and non-commissioned officers from the coast guard who have received training in Italy, according to a statement.

The boats will conduct maritime rescue activity in waters under Libyan sovereignty and responsibility, and support maritime rescue work off the Libyan coast.
