Presidential Council member Abdullah Al-Lafi stressed "the urgency of forming a joint force to protect the southern borders of the country," on Tuesday.
This came during a meeting with the Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Mohamed Al-Haddad, the Commander of the Border Guard Major General Nouri Sharata, and Director of the Operations Department of the Libyan Army Major General Abdel Fattah Al-Blouq.
The meeting held at the Presidential Council in Tripoli reviewed the steps taken to secure the borders, "according to a tight strategic vision in light of the rapid events taking place in Sudan and Niger."
The Presidential Council's media added that Al-Lafi stressed the need to continue supporting efforts to provide logistical capabilities that allow military units to carry out their tasks.
