Two boats belonging to the General Directorate for Coastal Security and their crew have arrived in Malta, the Ministry of Interior for Libya's interim Government of National Unity (GNU) announced on Tuesday.

The ministry said in a brief statement that the two boats are participating in the joint naval exercise "Dolphin 1" to be carried out this week in Maltese territorial waters in the presence of the interior ministers of the two countries.

The exercise comes after a week-long training course aimed to raise and develop the capabilities of naval boat crews according to a GNU statement.

That training included ten crews from the Libyan Coast Guard and included instructions on rescue and search by helicopter, storming ships and combating organized crime.
