Libyan Presidential Council leader Mohamed Menfi said that the extremely difficult security and humanitarian effects of the conflict in Sudan have extended beyond its borders to neighboring countries, and their intensity varied from one country to another.

Menfi added, in a speech during the Cairo summit of Sudan's neighboring countries, "My country has expressed, since the first day of the outbreak of the war, its readiness to engage and contribute effectively to stop this war, and the return of our brothers to serious and constructive dialogue to agree on a future that seeks stability and development."

He continued: "We stressed the need to unite the Sudanese parties and not to prejudice the unity of Sudan, and we confirmed our readiness to do our utmost through regional and international mechanisms in the interest of the Libyan people and enhance security in Africa and the world, and we opened the door to listen to all Sudanese views. We also confirmed our readiness to receive all parties within the framework of unified efforts which leads to the cessation of fighting and the return of Sudanese institutions to play their role in providing services to the people."

"We not only fear for what will happen to our peoples and countries from this war, but we fear for the brotherly Sudan and its territorial integrity, where the number of displaced from Sudan rose to three million displaced, including 700,000 in neighboring countries. The lack of basic services and the interruption of communication between Sudanese cities hinders the movement of civilians and makes them trapped in areas of confrontation."

Menfi concluded by calling for focusing the efforts of neighboring countries on unifying initiatives related to Sudan in one track that deals with the causes of the crisis and addresses its effects by forming a regional and international liaison committee that communicates with the owners of other initiatives to create an international and regional consensus and mobilize efforts to contain the humanitarian effects of the ongoing war.
