Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni informed her Libyan counterpart Abdulhamid Dabaiba on Sunday that Italy has lifted its 10-year ban on Libyan civil aviation over Italian airspace, according to a statement.

Flights are scheduled to resume in September, the statement added.

Dabaiba tweeted on Sunday, "I thank Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and I appreciate the efforts of the transportation sector, the committee formed for this purpose, and everyone who contributed to achieving this breakthrough to facilitate the movement for our citizens."
