Bodies of five migrants recovered on Sabratha beach

Members of the Sabratha branch of the Libyan Red Crescent Society recovered the bodies of five drowned migrants on the city's beach on Thursday.

The branch said it received a report from local authorities and dispatched its members to the location according to a statement.

The team members the transferred the bodies to city's general hospital for preservation in cooperation with the local police station.

On April 23, the Red Crescent recovered the bodies of 17 migrants after a boat carrying them sank off the coast of Sabratha.

In 2022, 11,412 migrants were recorded missing or dead during attempts to reach Europe from Libya, according to a report by the International Organization for Migration.
