The General Command announced on Sunday that Marshal Khalifa Haftar instructed the Civil Aviation Authority to reopen Al-Abraq Airport and start operating domestic and international flights through it.

The statement said that the decision aims to “lift the suffering and ease the burdens on our people in the eastern region”.

On May 6, Al-Abraq's administration called on all airlines to restart international routes or to address them in writing with reasons for why it is not possible, confirming the airport's full readiness to operate 24 hours a day.
