Patrols from the Special Tasks Department raided a residence in the Al-Ruwaisat area in the city of Misrata used as an illegal migration safehouse on Tuesday.

In a statement, it said the raid occured after obtaining permission from the Public Prosecutor and detained 61 individuals of Bangladeshi nationality.

The department added they were preparing to migrate to Europe via Libyan shores.

According to the statement they also received confessions from two individuals that they had previously smuggled 35 illegal immigrants to Italy via Libyan shores.

According to the instructions of the West Misrata Prosecution Office, the migrant were transferred to the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency in order to complete the rest of the legal procedures.
