The Criminal Investigation Division announced on Tuesday evening that it dispatched a security force from Benghazi to the border city of Musaid to "maintain stability and enforce the law", according to a statement from its director, Major General Salah Huwaidi.

Earlier on Tuesday, social media pages circulated news of security tensions that occurred at the Musaid border crossing with Egypt during the early hours of the morning.

No other official statements were issued regarding the tensions.
