Presidential Council holds emergency military meeting with Dabaiba and security officials

The Presidential Council, as the Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army, chaired an emergency military meeting with Government of National Unity Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dabaiba, the Chief of the General Staff General Muhammad Al-Haddad, and the commander of military areas in the western region on Tuesday.

The council's media office said that the meeting was devoted to "discussing the recent military developments in the western region."

The office stated that they also discussed strengthening security in Tripoli and mechanisms for confronting outlaw groups in a way that supports and enhances stability in the Western region.

Dabaiba announced the end of the first phase of military operations launched by his government on May 25 in the city of Zawiya and surrounding areas/

The outcome of the "first phase" resulted in the destruction of "seven boats intended for human trafficking, six warehouses for drug dealers, weapons and equipment used by criminal gangs, and nine tanks used to smuggle fuel abroad," according to a Ministry of Defense statement.
