The '6+6' joint committee charged by the House of Representatives and High Council of State to prepare electoral laws called for the formation of a unified government that paves the way for elections on Tuesday.

The committee said in a statement, following consultations in Morocco on Tuesday evening: “We would like to draw the public’s attention to the fact that before election laws enter into force and so that the hopes of the Libyans are not taken away, the current Libyan reality requires all of us to give priority to the interest of the Libyan citizen over all narrow calculations. Strengthening mutual trust and common political will, will occur through the formation of a unified government that paves the way for elections in the entire country and deals with them in a responsible and transparent manner."

The joint committee stressed, in a statement read by the head of the delegation from the High Council of State, Omar Boulifa, that the organization of the legislative and presidential elections will take place according to simultaneous procedures, announcing that it had achieved complete agreement regarding the points related to the election of the head of state and members of the National Assembly, in addition to how to involve political parties in the elections of the House of Representatives through party lists or individual candidacies.
