International Criminal Court Prosecutor Karim Khan confirmed that the court is in contact with the families of the victims and survivors of violations in Libya, noting that the incentive that prompted the Security Council and the court to pay attention to the Libyan file was "not political."

In his briefing to the UN Security Council on Thursday, Khan confirmed the achievement of tangible progress as a result of field investigations in Libya, explaining that he felt "optimism in the past six months" after submitting his first report to the Security Council.

Khan told the Security Council that his office had dispatched 20 missions and collected more than 500 pieces of evidence, including “audio clips, video clips and satellite images” that documented war crimes in Libya.
