Libya's parliament-appointed Prime Minister, Fathi Bashagha, held a meeting at the Prime Minister's Office in the city of Sirte, with a number of members of the High Council of State, to discuss the political developments taking place in the country.

The Government of National Stability's media office stated on its Facebook page that the meeting discussed the political situation in Libya in general, and consensus on the constitutional basis for elections between parliament and the High Council of the State.

The media office added that the discussion also reviewed the road map announced by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Abdoulaye Bathily.

On February 27, Bathily presented to the UN Security Council a proposal to form a high-level steering panel on Libyan elections, which would undertake the development of electoral laws, necessary arrangements needed and include local representatives.
