The United Kingdom announced the removal of former Libyan Prime Minister Baghdadi Al-Mahmoudi from its sanctions list according to a treasury notice released on Friday.
Al-Mahmoudi was included on the EU sanctions list in March 2011, due to his position with Muammar Gaddafi's government and his alleged role in suppressing demonstrators.
Al-Mahmoudi was delisted by the European Union and Switzerland in November 2021.
He served as prime minister of Libya from 2006 to 2011, during the collapse of the Gaddafi regime.
Tunisian authorities arrested him for crossing the border illegally in 2011 and handed him over to the new Libyan authorities that replaced Gaddafi in 2012.
Al-Mahmoudi was released in 2019 for "health reasons."
