UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed received the head of Libya's interim Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dabaiba, in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

During the meeting Bin Zayed stressed “the need to support international efforts to hold Libyan elections and to increase prospects for cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, gas, and investment between the two countries,” according to a statement from Dabaiba's media office.

The statement added that Dabaiba explained efforts to support the electoral process, stressing the need to conduct it "according to a fair constitutional rule and fair electoral laws."

Dabaiba also stressed the need to expand the horizons of economic cooperation with the UAE in various economic and investment fields, referring to his agreement with bin Zayed "to operate flights between the two countries, open visas for citizens and return the UAE embassy in Tripoli."
