The head of Libya's interim government of national unity, Abdulhamid Dabaiba, said on Wednesday, that the signing of the gas agreement with the Italian company, Eni, came after marathon negotiations that took into account the interest of Libya in all rounds.

Dabaiba's comments came at the second cabinet meeting of 2023.

He added that the deal with Eni is a reactivation of an agreement previously signed in 2008, indicating that the project will pump $8 billion worth of investments, a figure which “the country has not witnessed in a quarter of a century.”
