Libyan Presidential Council member Abdullah Al-Lafi said that the mission of the council is to “restore confidence among the Libyan people and to find solutions for contentious issues among them.”

During a press conference on the sidelines of the preparatory meeting for the national reconciliation conference on Sunday, Al-Lafi reviewed the importance of the national reconciliation project, saying that it aims to stabilize Libya and lead it to elections.

He expected the upcoming conference to witness the issuance of consensual legislative and executive decisions that contribute to the stability of Libya, considering that participants include “all political parties, in order to reach an inclusive conference for national reconciliation.”

He also pointed out that the strategic vision for the national reconciliation project was prepared by "a group of experts specialized in many fields from state institutions and Libyan universities."

Al-Lafi added, "Ownership of this project is for all Libyans, for a safe and stable homeland, for a people who live in love, cooperation and peace, and a sovereign national state."
