The General Authority for Search and Identification of Missing Persons announced the removal of eight unidentified bodies from the public landfill in Tarhuna.

In a statement released on Monday, the authority indicated that these bodies were exhumed in cooperation with the Deterrence Agency for Combating Terrorism and Organized Crime, after obtaining permission from the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The bodies are scheduled to undergo autopsies and then DNA samples will be sent to the Laboratories Department to match them with reference samples of missing persons.

This comes hours after the authority announced the removal of 18 unidentified bodies in Sirte.
