Libya's High Council of State announced its refusal to participate in the meeting called for by the Presidential Council, which is scheduled to be held in the city of Ghadames on January 11.
The council also voted to lift the decision to suspend communication with the House of Representatives during its 83rd session held in Tripoli on Monday.
The session dealt with the latest political developments in the country and the obstacles facing the electoral process.
A statement by the council said that “the invitation presented by the Presidential Council was discussed" and "this initiative was welcomed and the members of the Presidential Council were thanked for their efforts in this regard".
The statement added "but at the same time, the constitutional basis file is a matter between the High Council of State and the House of Representatives and a solution is close in this regard. Accordingly, it is not possible to participate in the Ghadames meeting."
