The Libyan Arab Armed Forces General Command published for the first time, pictures of Russian MiG-29 fighters stationed at the Jufra air base in central Libya.

This comes two days after Marshal Khalifa Haftar visited the region and met with a number of sheikhs, dignitaries and elders from Hun, Zillah and Sokna.

Saddam Haftar, the son of Khalifa Haftar is seen accompanied by several high-level commanders in some of the pictures from inside the air base.

The US military previously revealed the arrival of 14 Russian MiG-29 aircraft on May 26, 2020.

The US military command in Africa (AFRICOM) confirmed that day in a statement, that Russia “has deployed combat aircraft in Libya in order to provide air support to the Wagner Group.”

AFRICOM added that Wagner forces, at the time, were fighting in concert with the General Command against the Government of National Accord's forces.

AFRICOM indicated that 14 planes were transported by members of the Russian army to Jufra base, passing through Syria, where their paint was changed at the Khmeimim Air Base.
