Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita received on Friday, the Speaker of Libya's Parliament Aguila Saleh and High Council of State leader Khaled Al-Mishri, at the headquarters of the Moroccan Foreign Ministry in Rabat.
This came before Saleh and Al-Mishri announced an agreement to unify the executive authority as soon as possible during a press conference, following talks between them since Thursday.
Al-Mishri added, "A committee of the two councils previously met in Bouznika, and agreed on 2 out of 7 sovereign positions." He also referred to "agreeing on the necessary procedures for the parliamentary and presidential elections as soon as possible."
The meeting also comes at a time when Libya is witnessing a return to a state of political blockage and government division after parliament decided to withdraw confidence from the interim Government of National Unity headed by Abdulhamid Dabaiba and assign a new government headed by Fathi Bashagha. Dabaiba has refused to hand over power before the elections.
