The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) announced the departure of 41 refugees on flights from Libya aimed at resettling them in Norway.
The UNHCR said in a statement that it had assisted in the logistical aspects of these flights, praising in this context the role of the Regional Development and Protection Program for North Africa and the financing from the European Union and Italy for these flights.
UNHCR thanked the countries that are able to provide shelter for refugees, considering that resettlement is an important solution that allows the transfer of refugees from vulnerable groups to safety.
It urged countries to provide more safe and legal paths to help larger numbers of vulnerable asylum seekers by transferring them outside Libya.
