A number of young volunteers in the city of Bani Walid launched an initiative to maintain Al-Fuqaha Road, which links several neighborhoods and tribes.
The supervisor of the initiative, Ali Akash, said in a statement to Alwasat on Wednesday, that the initiative came after several appeals made by the people of the region to responsible authorities but never came to fruition due to the lack of capabilities, according to the responses of some parties.
Akash stated that this narrow road caused several traffic accidents, stressing a number of citizens provided all the machinery, equipment and materials used to expand and add new lanes for this road.
Akash appealed to the responsible authorities, led by the Libyan government, the Ministry of Transportation, and the Roads and Bridges Authority, to support this initiative and provide support to these young people, provide asphalt layers and install lighting poles on the road to avoid accidents and preserve the lives of citizens.
