The municipality of Shahat announced the suspension of contracts for any new projects, as of May 25, due to the lack of a budget.

In a statement on Thursday, the municipality said that its decision came due to citizen requests and based on correspondences with Administrative Control and the Audit Bureau, on the need for financial coverage to contract new projects.

The municipality stressed for public works offices to adhere to the decision.

The latest completed project in the municipality was announced last Friday after the installation of solar-powered lighting poles on Al-Atiq Mosque Street in the old Shahat area.

That project came as part of cooperation with the "Taqreeb" program of the US Agency for International Development, and the installation operations were carried out by the Joud company.
