A number of presidential candidates arrived in Benghazi on Tuesday, including Ahmed Maiteeg, Fathi Bashagha and Sharif Al-Wafi.

"We arrived today at Benina Airport, and Benghazi will be the first destination in our tour of the eastern region," Maiteeg announced.

It is expected that Benghazi will witness a meeting of presidential candidates and politicians from the western and eastern regions, in a political movement that is the first of its kind since 2014.

On Monday, a source told Alwasat that this visit is an initiative to break the existing barrier between political figures and actors in the east and west of the country and to stress the holding of elections as soon as possible, noting that other meetings in the same context will take place later in Tripoli as well.
